Before You Submit!
Welcome to Gulsampa, a vibrant space where words and stories come alive in three beautiful languages: English, Mahal/Dhivehi, and Malayalam. We’re all about celebrating the diversity of voices and cultures through poetry, short fiction, translations, and creative non-fiction. Whether you’re an established writer or just starting out, we can’t wait to see what you’ll bring to our literary garden.
What We’re Looking For:
- Poetry: Share your verses that sing in any of our three languages. We love everything from the lyrical to the experimental. For poetry submissions, please send 4-5 poems, from which 1-2 may be selected for publication.
- Short Fiction: Whether it’s a quick tale or a longer narrative, we’re eager to dive into the worlds you create.
- Translations: Help us bridge cultures by translating works into English, Mahal/Dhivehi, or Malayalam.
- Creative Non-Fiction: Essays, memoirs, reflections—we’re here for your real-life stories that resonate and inspire.
The Details:
- We’re open for submissions all year round, so feel free to send us your work whenever inspiration strikes.
- We accept simultaneous submissions—just keep us posted if your piece is picked up elsewhere.
- Multiple submissions? Sure thing! But please send no more than two at a time, each in a separate email.
- Please submit prose and poetry in .doc/.docx format.
How to Submit:
Email your submissions to [email protected] with the subject line “Submission – [Your Name].” We’d love it if you included a brief 3rd person bio (100 words max) so we can get to know you a little better.
The Fine Print:
- We aim to respond within a month, but sometimes it might take a bit longer. Thanks for your understanding!
- If your work is accepted, we might suggest some edits to help it shine even brighter.
Publication Policy & Copyright
At Gulsampa, we cherish the originality of your creative endeavors. We only consider submissions that have not been published elsewhere, including online platforms and personal blogs, unless specifically solicited by our editors.
When you share your work with us, you grant Gulsampa first electronic rights and non-exclusive archival rights. Rest assured, all copyright and publication rights remain with you, the writer. Should your work find another home after its debut with us, we kindly request that you acknowledge Gulsampa as the first publisher.
While we currently cannot offer financial compensation for accepted submissions, it is our endeavor to pay authors for their contributions in the future. We are actively seeking funding to make this possible.
We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to showcase your unique creations and work together to celebrate your voice.
